IN THE BEGINNING

Dr. Benjamin Marble, M.D.’s charitable actions were inspired by watching his grandmother and hero Mary Lee Payne work for the Salvation Army spreading joy & laughter.  Her Christian values were a core part of the family and a great service to the community of Gulfport, Mississippi.  She worked at the Family Store bringing salvation to the poor, hungry, and destitute for over 40 years.

While growing up in a Christian home where service and charity was the norm, Ben decided to go to medical school and in 1997 he became a medical doctor (M.D.) .  While he was in medical school his grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer.  This led Ben to do a cancer rotation during his studies and spend as much time as possible by her side until her death in 2006.  Dr. Marble has participated in numerous charity events to raise money for The American Heart Association, The Red Cross, and The Cancer Society; as well as leading grass roots projects for the homeless, hurricane victims, and abused women and children.

Jesus Medical shares the The Salvation Army’s philosophy of aiding the patients,  “physical and spiritual needs”, simultaneously.  In Mary Lee Payne’s memory and honor Jesus Medical would like to encourage people to donate to The Salvation Army’s on going dedication to humanity running charity stores, homeless shelters, food banks, and aiding disaster relief for millions in over 127 countries.
